Goals
What are goals?
Goals are the outcomes your organisation is working toward, expressed as clear intentions rather than tasks or activities. They give direction to decisions and provide a shared sense of what success looks like.
How are goals used in Decidr?
We use goals as the primary organising force inside Decidr. Rather than treating goals as static statements or quarterly targets, Decidr expresses them as structured objects that apps can reason with.
Goals are connected to beliefs, constraints, metrics and workflows, giving agentic apps a clear understanding of what they’re trying to achieve and why.
Because goals are shared across the organisation, apps don’t optimise in isolation. A finance app, an operations app and a customer app all reference the same goals, even if they contribute in different ways. When conditions change, apps can reassess priorities, tradeoffs and next actions in light of those goals, rather than blindly continuing with outdated plans.
Goals in Decidr are also revisitable. As outcomes are observed, goals can be refined, reweighted or restructured to reflect new realities.
Why it matters for your business
So many of us confuse activity with progress. Teams stay busy, but it’s not always clear whether that work is moving the business forward.
Clear, well-structured goals help your business focus effort where it matters most. They support better prioritisation, reduce wasted work and make it easier to explain why certain decisions were made. For leaders, goals provide alignment. For teams, they provide clarity. For AI, they provide intent.
Over time, goal-driven reasoning supports a business that adapts deliberately rather than reacting blindly.
What it looks like
You’ll see goals driving:
- Outcome-focused targets connected to metrics
- Shared priorities across teams and apps
- Decision logic that weighs actions against goal impact
- Dashboards showing progress toward outcomes, not just activity
- Clear links between actions taken and goals served.
Apps continuously reference goals when choosing what to do next.
In short...
Goals turn your organisation into a coherent system where every action supports what matters most.
